Miss you Delhi!

It was a hectic day yesterday. We had a meeting with Dr.Aalvi, a major giant of World Bank, who saw the reports generated by us. He looks said that he was a great visionary. He started shooting questions and we were making a to-do list that grew exponentially. Finally, we scheduled the work for the next day.

My routine was like this: wake up at 7:30AM,take bath,go down to the dining hall for breakfast, then go to NPIU Noida along with Dr.Mathur(CPA),work there till 6 or 7,roam about in the city, and finally lie flat in the room.

We went to Chandni Chowk yesterday, It was really crowded an was excellent. We had food in the famous Parathevali Gali, and then had our dinner in Haldirams, Chandni Chowk.

This unexpected trip in Delhi was really enjoyable, though I had to forgo my cycle tests. We’re flying tommorrow morning 6:40AM from the capital to Chennai and we’re again flying from Chennai to Trichy at 10:00AM!

Miss you Delhi!

Reading others’ Inbox?

Mathur Sir(Central Project Advisor of NPIU) was back today. We had a chat with him and we also told that our tickets are booked for today 7:00PM. He cancelled the tickets and made our tickets for 28th morning to land at Trichy directly! We were going by a connecting flight. After a small chat with Mathur Sir, he asked,

“After how much more years you will be out of your college?”
“Two more years, Sir”
“I don’t mind being your first employer.Yes. You can come here after your graduation and work for NPIU”

God,my brain stopped working. Am I hearing properly?? Yes. I was. I couldn’t see Parijat’s face. I could see only his teeth.

But for this unusual shock, the day was normal. I opened my account in npiu.nitt.edu using a VNC server to check the silver notice board of our college Intranet. It was usual that Vignesh and Karthik used my VNC’s in between(for Uninitiated, VNC is just accessing remote desktop)

But as I opened it today, unusual things started happening.Gmail was being opened. The mailid typed was vignesh.viki! It was vignesh using my VNC. Me and Parijat sat together to find what this guy was browsing(Naughty right??).

I took a screen-shot of his Inbox and I typed my message in the Address Bar!

Delhi, here we come!

Last weekend I was almost dead. The temperature changes inside and outside the NPIU(Noida) office was screwing me. I had hypersonic running nose. After correcting each bug in the code, I went to sneeze.

I missed the convocation of our college and my seniors. Convocation looked excellent. Drop out looked great.

But for rainy nights, the capital was hot as usual in the weekend. Luckily we managed to finish our jobs and generate reports very soon(around 5:30PM). After that we planned to roam around the city. People in the office were all around us. Everybody took interest in finding us places to see. Finally we left from the office to Centre Stage Shopping Mall in NOIDA.

After Centre Stage, we moved to ISBT(Inter-state Bus Terminus) in New Delhi. Parijat was about to meet his long-met friend, Srimoyee there. We had food in McDonalds, ISBT and we had a good chat from which I learnt that she was really ambitious. Finishing our snack, we moved to the Delhi Metro station. I was all gaga when I saw the Metro.

The metro system was awesome. The vehicle looked truly great. We reached Delhi University in minutes! We had a walk through St.Stephen’s College. Truly, I can’t hold anymore jaw dropping!

To say,St.Stephen’s College is the best place where you can have a perfect study-environment. Srimoyee showed us the entire campus. It was awesome and they also are one of the oldest(125th anniversary is over!).Pradeep Sir told us that it was built by Walter George, a very famous architect.

Later after saying bye to Srimoyee, we got the Metro again to Connaught Place. Connaught Place looked grand and modern. We walked around the inner circle, had our food in a restaurant over there, came back to Jamia Millia.

Missile of Surprises

Last thursday was very ordinary day. We had cycles the next day and the First Convocation the day after. I planned to skip the afternoon classes and start preparing for the cycle tests. As the fore-noon session got over, I left the class where I was called by our Department Assistant. He told “You have a call from CSG(Computer Support Group),go there asap.” I thought it should be some simple problem with our software-project.

Our project was a software project hosted at http://npiu.nitt.edu/(which redirects to an IP which is temporarily not available) for National Project Implementation Unit, NOIDA (NPIU) , which makes a report of the development of all the Technical Colleges in India.

Getting back to the story, I went to CSG, found Parijat over there. The staff there told us to meet Pradeep Sir immediately who is with Director. We found him in Director’s office. As we were waiting outside, he gestured us to get inside. We wished Director and came close to Pradeep Sir. He said, “You are required by NPIU urgently”.

I thought might be we have to go the next weekend. Director spoke,
“Yes boys, they want you to be there tommorrow morning.”
That was a bang in my brain.
“How are we going sir?”
“Your flight tickets are booked. You have to be there in Chennai Domestic Airport by tommorrow morning 6:40.” Director said.
“Sir we have cycles tommorrow” We said
“I’ll ask your HOD’s to conduct separate cycle tests for you!” was the reply.(That was too fast!)

Thats how the surprises began for the day.Me and Parijat were running for the rest of the day till 5:00PM for getting the cash for the trip, getting permissions from the department for postponing the cycle tests for us(where Parijat(ECE) got it & and mine was under consideration(MECH))

Around 6:30PM I went to my room to pack my stuffs. I was thrilled. This was my first flight trip that too was given as a surprise! I found my friends(Krishna & Karthik) and said that I’m leaving for Delhi now. I knew that they won’t believe me and it happened. And finally we left for the KPN bus in BHEL. Pradeep Sir dropped us there. We got down at Kamaraj Terminal at 4:00AM. Kamaraj Terminus was excellent. Since it was my first Air-trip, my jaws were dropped all the time.

We flew in Indian Airlines IC440(Airbus 320). It was excellent. The speed with which the flight took off was a marvel. Luckily we got a window seat and I was looking through it all the time. The most impressive one was flying over clouds. If Parijat hadn’t stopped me, I could have taken a few snaps of that. It reached Delhi at around 10:30AM(2:20 hour journey). I saw all kutti kutti cars and skyscrapers as in Age of Empires II. It was a beauty..

We reached NOIDA(New Okhla Industrial Development Authority) at around 11:00AM.
The capital was too hot (31oC) but our workplace was Air-Conditioned.Our work started the moment we came there. Faces were new. Dr.Ramachandran, Mr.Duggal, Ms.Shushma(our Co.ord) were there. We were explained the urgency. We managed to install our software with ease.

After a whole day’s work, we were asked to stay at the Guest House at Jamia Millia Islamia University. We found our room and left for dinner in Pizza Hut nearby.

Since all these things happened in an interval of 24 hours, it took time to get relieved of the shock. I’m still worried about my cycles. Jayaram sir will kill me to death.
