Delhi Haat

Since sunday was a holiday for NPIU, we had to spend our day somehow in Delhi. We planned our day by getting to nearest internet parlour and searching for places to see.

We went to the National Science Center, near Pragati Maidan. If you wish to see science exhibits, please don’t go to National Science Center. It was worthless. Half the models were under construction. Bangalore’s Science museum was far better than this. I expected a better Museum from Capital.

After Museum,we went to Delhi Haat.

When we reached the queue for getting tickets, we saw a guy and a girl fighting. It looked wierd. People were standing all around them and watching their actions. All of sudden, they laughed and announced, “This is just to get your attention, we are volunteers from Blood Donation Camp of Rotaract. Please come forward and donate your blood!”

The technique was amazing, just that people clapped and left!

One can spend his complete day in Delhi Haat(Unless your pockets are empty!)

Food court in Delhi Haat was simply amazing. We could see the food stalls of each and everystate. Nagaland’s Momo was great. We had our lunch in Bengali Restaurant, a Typical Bengali Thali. We started our shopping session after lunch. Parijat had to think a lot since he had plenty of (girl)friends. I got gifts for my akka’s b’day.

Handicrafts shown in the stalls were impressive, which attracted a lot of locals as well as tourists.

Besides,I’m missing(& lost) lots because of Delhi trips. When I called Robin yesterday, he said we had tests on friday! I have already missed one full cycle test. After discussing with Mathur sir today, I came to know that even this is not our last trip.

And finally, our tickets are booked. We’re leaving back to Trichy on thursday morning, which means I can atleast attend the afternoon classes. And now, I have to find, how to spend the next two days.

Earthquake

Yesderday, as we arrived at the office, people told us that there was an earthquake of magnitude around 5. We didn’t even have the feel of it. Dharmayan sir said,
“I saw the entire shopping mall shaking from the terrace!”

Amma and akka called me up and after that looking at the newspaper today, I could understand the effect of the earthquake, which has killed nearly 30,000 people. Delhi had slight effects. People in the office were bit nervous to work in the fourth floor.

Healthy Advice

Today morning at around 4:30AM, we reached Kamaraj Terminus. As usual, we refreshed and at 6:40, we got into the flight.

I sat in Parijat’s window seat. Next to him was an old man, who was sleeping peacefully. We were served breakfast. I had my head all time turned towards the other side(Window side)

After the break fast, the old man asked us, “Are you resident of chennai? Why are you going to Delhi?”. We explained him the entire story(We,pragyan,NPIU) and we added that we are IIIyrs of NIT Trichy.

He said, “I was there in the fifth batch of REC Trichy!”. After that, I couldn’t find time to look through the window! We were talking to him till we left the queue for Taxis in Delhi Airport!

Mr.Ravi was 1974 batch of REC Trichy, Mechanical Engg. and he did his MBA in IIM-A (!!), and he’s working in Maruti Udyog Delhi as General Manager. He was explaining the current Industrial scenario and advised us a lot and gave us contacts of his batchmates who are CEO’s and GM’s of leading companies along with his card.

His advice was really worth.Delhi trips always make us meet someone who is really experienced.

First trip, we met Coke Sales manager(Forgot to ask her name!) who had her education in XLRI, Jamshedpur. She was the only Lady sales Manager in Coke.

Second trip, we met Dr.Aalvi, an official from World Bank who was really experienced as an academican and educational consultant.

Third trip, ie. this trip Mr.Ravi! Besides, Dr.Mathur(Director of NPIU) has always been with us whenever we came here.
