Staying in College after the exams is sick. And when you get these things together:

• 24 Hours Rain
• Flooded campus
• No mobile coverage
• Dogs and cows inside the hostel
• Crowded canteens

Trichy is almost flooded. The highway connecting Trichy and Thanjavur is not being used because of water overflowing the bridges. No buses to connect Trichy and suburbs. On our way back to college, we saw flooded “Paal Pannai” and Kattur. Transport is totally crippled. Cauvery has broken into the city it seems. Waters approaching the roads from the Cauvery river to Ariyamangalam. Two-wheelers stopped there for a minute to watch the scene. Besides, two accidents - one near Govt. Polytechnic, another near Paal Pannai are also making the situation worse. People were carrying take drinking water across the flooded streets. Shanmuga college has got semesters and there is no connection to the college from Trichy today.

Back in REC, it seems everyone has to stay back here permanently. All route buses have been stopped. The ground floor of Pearl is almost covered with Cow shit and sleeping dogs. Guys are spending their time playing Counter Strike. BPL Mobile coverage is gone in the whole city for almost past 24 Hrs.

In between all these crisis, a few amusing conversations:

Some Old Person: You don’t have school today right?
Me: No. I’m a college student.
SOP: Ah !All schools are closed today. Tamil Nadu is flooded. I heard autorickshaws announcing that news. Two anaicuts are broken on the way from Thanjavur. Kattur will be soon flooded.
M: Oh.. appidia?
SOP: Yes. They asked everyone to leave their houses and climb Mala Kottai(Rock fort). That’s the only safest place right now. All the farmers want their cows with them. They are pushing their cows to climb Mala Kottai.
M: Oh…
SOP: Earth is going to perish. Tsunami here, Earthquake there.. Somebody is blasting bombs inside the city, our houses are flooded…. We’re all going to die soon. Yes, it is going to happen soon.
