Poor Things

For the past 3-4 days we were trying to catch up an impossible
deadline. It was a software project that we took two years ago and now
I’m regretting for taking it up. We have been cursing them for a
long time. Most of the companies do demand work from their employees,
but they give them ample time for them to finish a piece of work.
Unlikely, software companies make their employees live a different
life.

Mando has really good correlation between an auto driver and software engineer. Flatly, all indian software engineers are overworked and underpaid(Exceptions are research companies like Google and Yahoo!) . Quoting Mando,

…………As the deadline neared and he saw that he was not getting
anywhere, he bacame crabby – something that is pretty visible in the
software industry. Rising tempers, irritability, and frequent cursing
(which could be a remnant of the engineering college days) is a common
sight when project time is tight and things are not going
great………..

Earlier I felt bad that I didn’t get compsci. These days I’m really
happy about it. I pity software engineers(Especially those in
Consultancy companies) who have sleepless nights to reach their
deadlines.
