Don’t ever go to a Reliance World

**DISCLAIMER: This post wast typed on 100% frustration**

Today, after a long time I found a reliance web world to upload some podworks pics, write my cv and write a few posts on my blog about podworks. I couldn’t get a broadband connection at home, and dialup seriously sucks. So I chose reliance web world (Reliance web world because most of the topcoder competitions are held here)

The packs were quite expensive (100 Rs for 3 hours). Still i thought, it is worth for its bandwidth. When i was given a user id and password, i realised i was right. The bandwidth was amazing. But, *only* the bandwidth was amazing. Let me list out what made my type this post

  1. There is no desktop. Some arbit crappish reliance webworld software which kills all your freedom. There is no Start button!
  2. No Firefox
  3. Even if you think of downloading and installing it somewhere, you are not even given access to unzip your file. In short, you are denied access to everything but for opening your browser window and to type in the keyboard given
  4. Even you cant open a new window in iexplore. you are denied access!!
  5. Orkut is banned. I guess they are some shivsena supporters or there is some i hate rworld community there.
  6. Everytime you have to open a new window you have to alt-tab and go to that crap home of rworld and press on the broadband surfing button.
  7. You can’t use a usb directly. They’ll copy all your usb to some common share and you are supposed to access from it. Even others may access it!

The crappy home (Do zoom in and see how crap it is)

I wasted my 100 bucks on it. So, do go to your neighbourhood browsing centre, it is far more better. They give you good bandwidth and freedom. Don’t go for brand name and get fooled like me! :) Comments welcome!

Pongi gave me some tips (open word, and then file-open and type c:\ in the filename) but still, it sux for a rworld - beginner like me!
PS: I’ll keep updating this post till i leave this centre :)
